Counterfeit Detector
KCD-1000
Why does my unit keep rejecting bills or showing errors?
The KCD-1000 is a 4-way detector, meaning that bills can be inserted in any 4 possible orientations. After the bill is positioned in the insertion slot properly and aligned in the middle, the detector will automatically feed and scan the bill.
If a bill is recognized as authentic, the following will occur:
- Light indicator will turn GREEN
- Screen will display ‘’PASS’’
- The bill will be ejected from the front
If the bill is NOT recognized, the following will occur:
- Light indicator will turn RED
- Screen will display ‘’FAIL’’
- The machine will emit several beeps
- The bill will be ejected from the front.
How do I clean and maintain my unit?
The unit should always be turned off and disconnected from its power cord before cleaning. DO NOT use solvents such as thinner, alcohol, etc. to clean the machine.
Most operational problems can be avoided by regular care and preventative maintenance. Taking regular care of the KCD-1000 will significantly increase its lifetime.
For best results, it is recommended to use an air duster and a soft bristle brush to remove any dust or debris from the interior of the unit. Insert approximately ¼ inch of the duster nozzle through the front bill insertion slot to blow away any debris that may have accumulated inside the unit.
Do not insert the nozzle more than ¼ inch into the unit as it may damage the sensor mechanisms inside the KCD-1000 unit.
Pay close attention to the sensors, which are delicate components. If any dust or other foreign matter adheres to the sensors, it may cause various problems during operation of the machine.
Note: that several factors can cause a KCD-1000 to not recognize a genuine bill:
- Overly wrinkled, overly creased and overly worn bills
- If the unit is dropped or bumped
- A sudden change in temperature
- Extended period of non-use.
What does this error code mean?
1. Error Messages:
- "OPEN": Ensure the lid is securely closed.
- "CEO": Check for foreign objects inside the unit. Remove them, close the lid tightly, and restart.
2. Power Issues:
- Unit doesn’t turn on:
Verify the power cord is connected.
Turn the switch off for 3 seconds, then back on.
If unresolved, contact Kolibri Technical Support.
3. Operation Issues:
- Motor/rollers keep turning:
Ensure the lid is closed properly.
Restart the unit. If the problem persists, contact Kolibri Technical Support.
- Fails to read bills or detect counterfeit:
Turn off the unit, open the lid, and clean interior sensors with an air duster or soft brush (refer to Section 5.1: Maintenance).
Close the lid tightly and restart.
- Bills jammed:
Turn off the unit, open the lid, and clean the sensors.
Inspect for foreign objects (e.g., paper clips, rubber bands) and remove them.
Close the lid tightly and restart.
For persistent issues, contact Kolibri Support.
Cleaning Procedure
Dirty sensors can reduce performance, causing genuine bills to be rejected. Weekly maintenance is recommended to ensure optimal functionality.
To begin, gather the following items: a soft microfiber cloth, a soft-bristled brush, a can of compressed air, and a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the unit is turned off and unplugged before starting.
Perform cleaning for each sensor one at a time, checking after each step to see if the issue is resolved. Start by wiping away dust with a microfiber cloth or soft-bristled brush. If the problem persists, use compressed air to remove debris. Finally, gently clean the sensors using a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
Locate the following sensors in the KCD-1000 for cleaning: The UV Sensor comprises four parts spaced between the magnetic sensors, which appear as small metal bars in the top-middle of the bill track. The IR Sensor is a small square located on the upper part of the bill track. The Start Sensor consists of two parts located at the front of the unit between the rollers.
Various factors can affect the KCD-1000's ability to recognize genuine bills, including overly worn or wrinkled bills, physical impacts such as dropping the unit, sudden temperature changes, extended periods of non-use, and inadequate maintenance.
