Counterfeit Detector
KCD-2000
What does my unit keep rejecting bills or showing errors?
KCD-2000 is a 4-way detector, meaning that bills can be inserted in any 4 possible orientations. After the bill is positioned in the insertion slot properly (see images below), the detector will automatically feed and scan the bill. If a bill is recognized as authentic, the following will occur:
1.The value of the scanned bill will be displayed (if in value mode)
2.The bill will be ejected from the selected direction
Note: Unrecognized bills will always be ejected from the front regardless of the selected direction.
- The machine will emit two beeps
- An error message will be displayed
- The bill will be ejected from the front.
How do I clean and maintain my unit?
The unit should always be turned off and disconnected from its power cord before cleaning. Do not use solvents such as thinner, alcohol, etc. to clean the machine.
Most operational problems can be avoided by regular care and preventative maintenance. Taking regular care of the KCD-2000 will significantly increase its lifetime.
For best results, it is recommended that to use an air duster and a soft bristle brush to remove any dust or debris from the interior of the unit. Insert approximately ¼ inch of the duster nozzle through the front bill insertion slot to blow away any debris that may have accumulated inside the unit.
Do not insert the nozzle more than ¼ inch into the unit as it may damage the sensor mechanisms inside the KCD-2000 unit.
Pay close attention to the sensors, which are delicate components. If any dust or other foreign matter adheres to the sensors, it may cause various problems during operation of the machine.
- UV Sensor
- IR Sensors
- Magnetic Sensors
Note: that several factors can cause a KCD-2000 to not recognize a genuine bill:
- Overly wrinkled, overly creased and overly worn bills.
- If the unit is dropped or bumped.
- A sudden change in temperature
- Extended period of non-use
- Improper maintenance or lack of preventative maintenance/cleaning.
What does this error code mean?
There are several reasons a genuine bill may be recognized as counterfeit, or vice versa. Possible reasons include: direct sunlight exposure, worn bills, excessively dirty bills, or highly advanced counterfeiting techniques used to produce the bill. Separate equipment may be required to definitively determine whether a bill is counterfeit.
For all error code references, open Section 5.1 in User Manual.

Calibration Procedure
1. Purpose & Scope
This procedure outlines the preventative calibration maintenance procedure required to ensure optimal performance of the KCD-2000 unit.
2. Application
Calibration of the unit is performed prior to shipment. However, sensor calibration may be altered during transit or after extended use, potentially resulting in an increased rate of false rejects.
3. Definitions & Acronyms
Refer to the KCD-2000 User Manual for detailed definitions and acronyms.
4. Requirements
No tools are required for this procedure.
5. Procedure
- Ensure the machine is plugged in.
- Press and hold the DOWN ARROW button, then press the POWER button while still holding the DOWN ARROW button. Continue holding until the calibration screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the lid position:
- Slowly lift the lid as instructed.
- The unit will provide further prompts to move the lid up or down until it reaches the precise position.
- Note: Move the lid in small increments to minimize lift-lower cycles. Completing this step in one smooth movement is possible with careful adjustments.
- Once calibration is complete, the unit will prompt you to exit.
- Exit by pressing the BACK button. The unit will automatically restart with the new calibration settings.
